PlateFluent Privacy Policy

Effective August 11, 2026

PlateFluent is a nutrition education app. Our privacy design is simple: your data stays on your device unless you explicitly send it somewhere, and we don't run accounts, ads, analytics, or tracking of any kind.

What stays on your device

• Your WELL Diet Score results and answers
• Your food preferences (diet, allergies, dislikes, cuisines)
• Your saved recipes, game scores, points, and streaks
• Your settings (language, text size, appearance)

None of this is transmitted to us. Deleting the app deletes it.

What leaves your device, and when

• "Ask anything" questions. When you ask a food question, the question text is sent to our server and processed by an AI language-model provider to generate the answer. We do not store your questions or answers, and they are not linked to you.
• Dietitian screening requests (opt-in). If you choose to request a screening after a WELL Check, the email address you enter, your anonymous participant ID, and your score are emailed to the registered dietitian team so they can contact you. This happens only when you press the request button, under a clearly displayed consent notice.
• Recipe lookups. In limited cases the app fetches recipes from the Spoonacular API. These requests contain food-preference filters, never your identity.

Kiosk mode (shared tablets)

When PlateFluent runs as a shared kiosk (for example at a fitness or wellness center), check-in is de-identified by design: the tablet stores only an anonymous participant number and a one-way cryptographic hash. Names are never saved. Data exports from kiosks contain anonymous participant numbers only.

What we never do

• No user accounts, and no collection of names, contacts, or location
• No advertising, no ad identifiers, no third-party analytics or trackers
• No sale or sharing of data with data brokers — ever

Not medical advice

PlateFluent is educational. It does not diagnose, treat, or replace advice from your doctor or a registered dietitian. The WELL Diet Score is a self-check for learning, not a medical assessment.

Children

PlateFluent is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
